Cell Phone As Style Icon For Communication

Cell Phones, also known as Mobile Phones, have become a way of life. It is no exaggeration to state that in the modern times, it is almost impossible to lead a normal life without the help of cell phones. Believe it or not, several countries including the UK now have more mobile phones than people. If this sounds incredible to you, take a look at the following startling statistics:

- Around 80% of world`s population has mobile phone coverage as of 2006. This figure is expected to increase to 90% by the year 2010.

- In the United States, 50% of children own mobile phones.

- On a numerical basis, India is the biggest growth market adding about 6 million cell phones every month and it is expected to be 500 million by end of 2010.

The market for the cell phone is becoming over-crowded with scored of companies invading the market every quarter of the year. However, as per a recent survey, Nokia Corporation is the largest manufacture of mobile phones with a whopping market share of approximately 36% in the first quarter of 2007. Typically, the mobile phones are meant to play the same role as their stationary counterparts, i.e., landline telephones. However, the introductions of different high-end tools and ground-breaking technologies especially in the last decade have changed the concept of communication like never before.

With facilities such as SMS, Instant Messenger, Built-in MP3 player, Video recording, Internet, GPS and so on, the cell phone has become a key social tool. Wet Cell Phone: How To Save Your Gadget

Getting your phone wet happens all the time. Falling into the sink or the toilet, washed with your jacket in the washing machine, of simply following you when you swim in your favorite swimwear, the cell phone gets soaked and usually it is lost forever. If you act quickly there is a chance to save it!

Remove it from water. In less than 20 seconds the phone cover will let the water in, so if your fast enough you can prevent this by simply getting it out from the water. If more time has passed, you have to remove the battery while the phone is underwater to prevent a short-circuit.

The battery is next. Stop the power to your cell phone is the best idea. The circuits will survive underwater as long as they have no battery or any type of electric power attached.

Remove the SIM card. Losing your SIM means losing all your contacts, and other valuable stored data. Sometimes losing your SIM is worse than losing the whole phone. Usually the SIM card survives after an underwater experience, but in order to assure this don't rush to heat it, but let it dry slowly instead. CDMA carriers like Verizon, Sprint and such do not need to care about your SIM card and you will not get any cell phone insurance.

Open the cover and dry your phone. Open the whole cover, and make sure that you have as many gaps as possible. Shake the phone to remove most of the water and using a paper towel or a regular one press gently on it to get the moisture out. Use your hand to dry some moisture if needed.

Vacuum versus hair dryer. Vacuum is the best choice as it sucks out the moisture from the inner elements and circuits. A hair dryer will push them more deeper, and, in time, those deep drops of water will corrode your phone circuits. Also the heat from the dryer can permanently damage the phone. When using the vacuum try keeping it at some distance from the circuits as it can have a lot of electrostatics that can also damage the phone. The vacuum is the fastest method of drying out your phone and making it work again in 30 minutes.

Leaving you phone inside a bag of uncooked rice or placed on towels or tissues overnight are another methods. The uncooked rice absorbs water and moisture. If you can, use desiccant instead of rice as it absorbs moisture better. You can find it as "Damp Rid" or "Dry Right" on your local store. The towels also can do the job, absorbing moisture, but make sure to check on them from time to time and change them if they become too wet.

Test-drive your phone. After a day or so, keeping sure that the phone is completely dry, attach the battery and check if it starts. If the phone shows no signs of life try using the charger without the battery as the old one may get damaged and need replacement. If all fails take the phone to an authorized dealer and inform him of the problem, letting him know that the phone was wet (most phones have internal sensors that can prove moisture). In some cases the dealer can fix the problem.

Checking for water damage on a cell phone is quite simple. Remove the battery and look for a white square or circle in the corner near the place where the battery was. That should be white, but if is pink or red, there is a clear sign of water contact.

The new Helio OZ2 phone - Will it be the anticipated Helio Ocean2 ?

Exciting news!! Helio has a new phone in the works, the new Helio OZ2.... could it be the much talked about Helio Ocean2? On ¾/08 Pantech & Curitel submitted the Helio OZ2 to the FCC for review and approval. Shortly after, on 3/28/08 the FCC issued Helio their certificate of compliance. Now it's only a matter of time before we're able to WOW customers with another exciting device!!!

The big question is:: Will Helio keep the name OZ2? Back when the Helio Ocean was first spotted on the FCC radar, it was introduced as the “Helio OZ". Helio then threw us a curve ball, and renamed the Helio OZ to the well known "Helio Ocean". Is Helio planning on renaming the new Helio OZ2 to the Helio Ocean2, or will they keep the name? Certainly, Helio is keeping us all guessing! We can only speculate, while we impatiently wait for the new cell phone to arrive (inside sources say late spring to early summer 2008).

There is a lot that has been written about the new Helio OZ2 phone but little is actually know about it. This is what we've been able to find out: The FCC released a drawing of the Helio OZ2 proto type (shown below) on their publicly accessible site on the March 28th 2008. (Contrary to some reports: the FCC didn't “leak" the image, it is publicly available).

It appears to have the same over all design as the Helio Ocean, although we have noticed some apparent changes. Let us first say, we believe the picture submitted to the FCC is actually UPSIDE DOWN!! Too view the image, and how it compares to the current Helio Ocean, feel free to visit the link below. Copy and paste the following into your browser:
http://www.heliocellular.com/ARTICLE-Helio-OZ2.html

1) This would explain why many people believe the concentric circles (towards the bottom) represent a new camera. We believe it's a newly designed speaker port. As can be seen, the half moon speaker port slits that were near the bottom, no longer exist. If we are correct, this will definitely help with the Ocean's under developed speaker phone.

2) It looks as though the cleaning fob and the earphone port, have been moved to the bottom of the phone. This would make the fob less bothersome during calls, and streamline the attachments. It would also “clear the board" and make way for the Ocean2's speculated 3 way slider....

3) If the Helio OZ2 has a 3 way slider, it would most certainly have user friendly buttons (ie play, pause, repeat, etc) for music, videos, pics and the like. Perhaps if the 3 way slider is a reality, it could also have games, YouTube, and the Helio file viewer applications more easily accessible.

4) Inside sources have told us the new Helio OZ2 will have voice recognition much like the Helio Mysto and Helio Fin. Additionally, the OZ2 might have MiniOpera, Helio File Viewer and Garmin Mobile pre-installed.

5) Interestingly, is the new placement of the Micro SD slot, which is now located under the battery compartment. This tells us the Helio OZ2 cell phone will likely be thinner and sleeker than it's predecessor, the Helio Ocean.
The current Helio Ocean has many features and applications that appeal to all demographics, from the business savvy professional, to the younger mobile generation. It's the first phone of its kind, and is deserving of the attention it receives. Certainly, the new Helio OZ2 phone will exceed it's predecessor's technological advances and once again catch the public by surprise. You can find more information as it becomes available at the HelioCellular.com link below.

Fun Things To Do With Cell Phones

While we all know the main function of cell phones is to use them for communication purposes - making calls or texting people - there are myriad things that can be done with the devices. Especially because modern cell phones have so many more features than the older ones. Because they all come with cameras and custom sounds and different features, including music players and games, they've almost become all-inclusive, pocket-sized entertainment units.

This is a great thing, because having a pocket-sized item that can provide hours of entertainment can be more fun than most people even realize. First of all, waiting in lines is almost tolerable, thanks to music players and video games incorporated into phones. Pop in your headphones, and you don't even have to worry about digging around for your iPod - your music is already there for you!

And games? Who wants to also have to carry a handheld game system with them everywhere they go? There's only so much room in someone's bag or pockets. Thankfully, there's a solution - today's cell phones come with pre-loaded and downloadable games. They're not the latest version of Grand Theft Auto [yet, anyway], but they'll definitely pass the time. You can get lots of classic games for your cell phone and just play until your heart's content.

If you're an amateur photographer, you might wish you had your camera with you more often than not... but don't want to haul expensive and fragile equipment around with you. Once again, no problem! Just get yourself a phone with a digital camera in it! Some phones even have cameras that are high resolution and you can get plans from your providers that allow you to send the photos you take off to a service that will print the photos for you. A camera phone isn't a substitution for a real camera for most people, but it's a great supplemental camera for when you see something amazing or amusing and just really want a shot of it.

Finally, you can get lots of cool ring tones for your phone. You can choose songs, words, sounds, comedy lines - you name it and it's out there. These can bring a little bit of cheer into your life, as well as the lives of the people around you. Just choose whatever seems to fit your life or your mood and you'll be on your way to having more fun with your cellular or mobile phone!
